Biathlon: best result for the American men’s team
On Wednesday, the United States achieved their best ever performance in the men’s relay at the Milan/Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, contested on the track in Antholz (Italy). The foursome of Sean Doherty, Maxime Germain, Paul Schommer and Campbell Wright finished in fifth place, beating the Americans’ all-time record of sixth place set in 1972 and 2018.

The atmosphere is good,” said Campbell Wright in a statement from US Biathlon. I think, as a men’s team, we’ve struggled a bit at these Olympics. So I’m really happy that we finished fifth as a team and that everyone was able to have a good race before the Games were over.”
Second relay player Maxime Germain shot 10/10, while his partners had to use eight picks in total. I’m really pleased with my performance,” explained Maxime Germain. I managed to keep calm and aim straight, which is essential in biathlon, so I’m pleased to have achieved that. I also felt pretty good on the skis. Of course, it’s very hard at the end, but I think I managed it well.

Campbell Wright will be the only American in the mass-start on Friday. He finished second in the last World Cup race on this format in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic).
