Cross-country skiing : “Top 10 was my goal”, says Léonie Perry
Bressaude Léonie Perry put in a superb performance in the individual skate event at the Milan/Cortina Olympic Games, finishing tenth. With this result, she became the seventh Frenchwoman to score an individual top 10 at the Olympic Games. It was a performance she was delighted with.
“Top 10 was my goal. It was a great race, I’m so happy. I gave it my all, so I have no regrets,” she enthused to L’Équipe.

The Vosgienne then detailed her attacking strategy for the 10-kilometre race.
“I tried to get off to a strong start, which was inevitable at the end… Usually, I start slower to finish strong. But this time, I really wanted to have no regrets, so I tried to start really strong and hold on to the finish. Inevitably, things dropped off a bit, but I’m very happy with the way I managed the race. It wasn’t too flat at the end, so I had to keep my legs going. The Zorzi [the circuit’s main difficulty, editor’s note] isn’t easy”, she smiles.

The snow conditions, which were very different from the day before, also played an important role. “The snow was nothing like yesterday when it was churning and unkillable on the flat. We [the French women] were scared because we prefer hard conditions. They salted it this morning and the slope tightened up nicely, so the conditions were great,” concludes the 21-year-old cross-country skier.
