Cross-country skiing : Léonie Perry and Mélissa Gal finish tenth
This Wednesday morning in Tesero (Italy), the women cross-country skiers were the first to take to the track to compete in the team sprint qualifier for the Milan/Cortina Games. Twenty-six teams were entered for fifteen qualifying places. As at the start of the fortnight, with the exception of the relay andEbba Andersson‘s fall, Sweden continued to dominate the proceedings.
The day’s big favourites, Jonna Sundling and Maja Dahlqvist, dominated the qualifying session, buoyed by JonnaSundling‘s superb time, which put her nearly seven seconds clear of runner-up Jessie Diggins.
Finland’s Jasmin Kähärä and Jasmi Joensuu took second place in qualifying, 14.92 seconds behind the Swedes, while Canada’s Alison Mackie and Liliane Gagnon completed the podium.
In the French camp, Léonie Perry and Mélissa Gal cleared the hurdle unhindered, taking tenth place, 22.6 seconds behind the winners, in a qualifying round marked above all by a dog that played the role of surprise guest.
“The track suits me fine. The conditions are good and the track is hard. There’s plenty to play for. It’s going to be a blast,” warned Léonie Perry on France Télévisions. ” The aim will be to stay with the leading group for as long as possible, so as to have a good race at the end”, adds Mélissa Gal. They meet again at 11:45 for the grand final.
