Biathlon: Quentin Fillon-Maillet equals French sporting legends
Early on Sunday afternoon, Quentin Fillon-Maillet from the Jura region became Olympic biathlon mixed relay champion for the first time in his career. AlongsideEric Perrot, Lou Jeanmonnot and Julia Simon, he effectively dominated the competition in Antholz (Italy).
A victory synonymous with a third Olympic title for the boy from Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux (Jura). In doing so, Quentin Fillon-Maillet becomes the equal of alpine skier Jean-Claude Killy among France’s three-time Olympic champions. Combined with the summer disciplines, he is also on a par with Marie-José Pérec (athletics), Tony Estanguet (canoeing), Florian Rousseau and Félicia Ballanger (track cycling) and Nikola Karabatic (handball).

In biathlon alone, Quentin Fillon-Maillet moves up to eighth place among the most decorated athletes in the history of the Olympic Gamesthanks to this gold medal. With three titles and three silver medals, he moves ahead of Norway’s Tarjei Boe (three gold, two silver, two bronze) and Germany’s Mark Kirchner (three gold, one silver).
Finally, the Franc-Comtois won his sixth career Olympic medal, just one shy of Martin Fourcade ‘s French winter record (six golds, one silver).
