18:27. After a perfect start to his Olympic Games in Milan/Cortina with a superb seventh place last Sunday in the skiathlon – synonymous with his best career result – Sweden’s Truls Gisselman announced on Instagram this Saturday that he was leaving the Games, unwell.
“I got a bit ill yesterday, Friday 13th, and unfortunately it’s not getting any better. My main objectives for these Olympic Games were the relay and the 50 km, but sometimes things don’t work out as you’d like. I’m still really pleased to have achieved my best ever result in the skiathlon. Thank you to everyone who supported me and enabled me to experience my first Olympic Games and to be surrounded by so many incredible people! There are still a few races left this season, but first I’m going home to recuperate,” he wrote on Instagram.
