Cross-country skiing: “I’m really sorry for him”.
Russian skier Saveliy Korostelev finished just off the podium in the Olympic skiathlon in Tesero, Italy. His ranking was confirmed after his team rejected an appeal against French skier Mathis Desloges for cutting the course in the stadium.
After the race, the skier spoke about the collision with Norway’s Harald Oestberg Amundsen.

According to him, the Scandinavian made contact with him, lost his balance and fell, but he was able to get back up and continue the race.
“I don’t know exactly what happened (…). I was surprised that it happened. I’m really sorry for him,” explained Saveliy Korostelev in English.
According to NRK, it was the participant under the neutral flag at the Olympic Games who hit the Norwegian with his arm, just asHarald Oestberg Amundsen was about to lose his balance. Amundsen finished in sixth place.

Speaking to the media, Saveliy Korostelev also spoke about the course of his race: “The first part was very difficult, my muscles needed to adapt. The second part was smoother and calmer. But on the last climb, I was badly placed, which made it difficult to attack. The three frontrunners then opened up too big a gap.
