10:28. Sixth in the qualifying round of the cross-country skiing classic sprint at the Milan/Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, Italy’s Nicole Monsorno failed to show up for the ceremony to select the pools for the final phases. At the end of this first timed exercise, the cross-country skiers must choose their quarter-final by pressing a buzzer in the following order: 11th to 1st, then 12th to 30th.

The home runner at these Olympic Games therefore had to choose her place in 6th position. When it was her turn, the Italian was not present to make her choice. After a few minutes of waiting, the organisers decided to move her to 30th and last position, so the choices were made again.
She finds herself in the first quarter-final alongside Sweden’s Jonna Sundling, Finland’s Jasmi Joensuu, Norway’s Kristine Stavaas Skistad and the Americans Samantha Smith and Lauren Jortberg.
