Biathlon : “Maybe we should give up this season and think about next year”, says Endre Stroemsheim
Absent from the World Cup circuit since the first stage inÖstersund (Sweden), the return of Norway’s Endre Stroemsheim turned into a nightmare on the individual short course in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic). Solid, with a 14/15 after three shots, the Scandinavian went into the final run on the shooting range in 11th position.
But in a matter of seconds, everything fell apart. On the final exercise, the 28-year-old biathlete completely collapsed on his feet, missing all five of his balls. A terrible 0/5 which relegated him to a distant 84th place in the final rankings. “The race was good until the last shot, and then everything went downhill. I don’t know what to say. I’ve never experienced anything like it,” Endre Stroemsheim told TV2.

Clearly shaken by a very difficult season – marked by just three starts in the IBU Cup between the World Cup in Östersund and Nove Mesto – the 28-year-old biathlete can no longer rule out a radical decision for the future.
“Everything’s been going wrong for too long, whether it’s my form or my shooting. Maybe we should give up this season and think about next year,” concludes the fatalistic mass-start world champion last winter in Lenzerheide ( Switzerland).
