Biathlon: the figures for the men’s relay at the Lenzerheide World Championships
On Saturday afternoon, the final result of the men’s relay at the Biathlon World Championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland) was a historic one. Firstly, Norway’s victory meant that Johannes Thingnes Boe was crowned champion for the twenty-third time in his immense career at the World Championships.
His brother Tarjei Boe, also just a few weeks away from retirement, took his seventh world relay gold medal , while Norway as a whole became world champion in the event for the eleventh time.
France’s silver medal gave Emilien Claude his first ever podium finish at a world championships. Second place, moreover, shared with his older brother Fabien Claude, world medallist for the third time in his career.
Fourth medal of the fortnight for Eric Perrot
Eric Perrot won his fourth medal of the Swiss fortnight, the first in silver after gold in the mixed and individual relays and bronze in the pursuit. Last but not least, Quentin Fillon-Maillet from the Jura region went down in French men’s biathlon history with his twentieth world medal.
Last but not least, Germany’s Danilo Riethmueller and Johannes Kuehn took their first ever World Championship medal with their tans.
