Biathlon: the Grand-Bornand World Cup a televised success
On Monday, the day after the end of the seventh Biathlon World Cup in Annecy – Le Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie), La Chaîne L’Equipe released its audience figures for the week. And the figures are staggering.
While the French biathletes racked up a record seven podium finishes from their six races, the free-to-air broadcaster owned by the Amaury group also broke records, with Médiamétrie recording the highest audience figures ever for a round of the Biathlon World Cup broadcast on La Chaîne L’Equipe.

More importantly, a cumulative audience of 8 million French people watched the races over the week as a whole, with a peak of 1.6 million viewers for the men’s mass-start on Sunday afternoon. ” Never before has a World Cup race been followed so closely on La Chaîne L’Equipe,” the press release stated.
Lastly, on average per race, La Chaîne L’Equipe is the DTT leader and third national channel with 12.5% of 4+ audience share; the number one national channel in its priority target demographic of Hom25-49 year-olds with 22.4% of audience share ; and the number two national channel in the 25-49 demographic with 15.6% of audience share.
