Biathlon : Tarjei Boe puts everyone in agreement
Having struggled in recent days, Tarjei Boe knew he was expected to win this mass-start in Annecy – Le Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie). Not lining up for the sprint (and therefore the pursuit) in Bornand, the eldest of the Boe brothers responded in the best possible way: with victory. “I wanted to show what I could do. Biathlon can be difficult when you don’t have the skiing and shooting in place on the same day. Today, everything was perfect,” he was delighted to tell Nordic Magazine in the mixed zone.

It was his fourteenth World Cup win and one that took on a special flavour for the Norwegian: ” It’s one of the most important victories of my career. After a magnificent season last year, I’ve had a more difficult start to the winter. I needed this victory to be selected for the world championships, so now I’m reassured . I’ve already shared podiums with my brother Johannes, but never first place. So to be able to put that together today is a great feeling of happiness .
A victory that the Scandinavian also attributes to a surplus of freshness: “This week I mainly tried not to think about the biathlon, I hardly trained at all, and that helped me a lot, especially in terms of energy.
Johannes Thingnes Boe, joy for two
Third today, Johannes Thingnes Boe also had a smile on his face as he spoke to Nordic Magazine in the mixed zone of the Syvie-Becaert stadium: “I’m delighted for two reasons: because the holidays are coming up, and also because my brother Tarjei had a great race today. It’s been difficult for him over the last few days, and he needed to secure his place for the next World Cup stages and the World Championships.

After coming fourth in the final round, the world number one couldn’t help but think of his big brother: “In the last round, I saw that he was still very strong, and I couldn’t stop smiling!
Before heading back to the shelter, the yellow number also spoke about the incredible atmosphere of the French stage: “It’s a really special place for the whole team. We often have very good skis here, and the atmosphere is just incredible. It’s the best World Cup of the winter here. I really hope we come back every year!
