Biathlon: Emilien Jacquelin predicted Norway’s success
He had foreseen it. At midday on Wednesday, in the mixed zone on the eve of the biathlon World Cup sprint in Le Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie), Emilien Jacquelin told the press that the “advantage” was clearly Norway’s on this Bornand stage. He added that he could see a Norwegian winning because they would be able to feed off the fury of the public without fear.
The young Martin Uldal ‘s victory just ahead of Johannes Thingnes Boe came as no surprise to the Villardien.

“As I said yesterday, I was expecting a Norwegian to win, he explained after his eighth place. They only take positives from the public and they’re starving people who fight for every race. We have that little extra element to deal with and we spend more energy staying concentrated. So everything I expected yesterday is proving to be true!”
As for the identity of the winner, Martin Uldal, who scored 10/10 in front of the world’s best biathletes, Emilien Jacquelin is not surprised. “It’s remarkable, but when you’re young like him, when you’ve got your whole future ahead of you and you want to prove what you’re capable of, it’s almost easier to take the shots and dare to do what he did,” says the Dauphinois.
