Biathlon: Niklas Hartweg looks forward to February
At the very start of the summer, Swiss biathlete Niklas Hartweg suffered a major setback in his preparations. Suffering a ligament injury to his right shoulder in a mountain bike crash, the 24-year-old from Schwyz even had to undergo surgery.
But the man with two World Cup podiums recovered very quickly. “I quickly took refuge in rehabilitation, he explained to SRF. Everything happened much quicker than I expected.” As a result, Niklas Hartweg now considers himself to be “in good shape”.
For the Helvetian, who kicks off his season at the end of the month with the World Cup in Kontiolahti (Finland), the winter’s objective will be in February, at the World Championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland), which he will be hosting on home soil. He will be aiming for nothing less than his first world medal.
