For several months, Ukrainian Dmytro Pidruchnyi has been collecting the race numbers of the various athletes taking part in the biathlon world cup with the aim of selling them in a raffle to finance a school shelter in his country, which is still hard hit by its conflict with Russia.
A few weeks ago, the 33-year-old biathlete posed on Instagram with Sweden’s Sebastian Samuelsson, who readily agreed to take part in this lovely gesture. In recent days, France’s Justine Braisaz-Bouchet has also played her part, donating two of the race numbers she wore on the Oberhof stage (Germany).
“Justine, thank you so much for standing by Ukraine,” writes Dmytro Pidruchnyi on his Instagram account. Our country is going through a difficult time, and your support means a lot.”
