On Sunday afternoon, a few hours after the end of the competitions in the 2024/2025 edition of the biathlon world cup, Dorothea Wierer and Quentin Fillon-Maillet were invited into the royal box at theOslo-Holmenkollen stadium (Norway).

The aim of the invitation was to award the famous Holmenkollen medal to the Italian and French skiers. An award that is none other than the highest distinction in Norwegian skiing. Awarded for the first time in 1895, the medal recognises athletes who have achieved outstanding results in their respective disciplines at international level. Spirit and human qualities are also taken into account.

The two biathletes are also joined by cross-country skier Iivo Niskanen, ski jumper Peter Prevc and combined skier Akito Watabe. For his part, Quentin Fillon-Maillet becomes the third Frenchman to receive this distinction , after Martin Fourcade in 2013 and Marie Dorin-Habert in 2017.
