Biathlon: the Junior Cup globes will be awarded in Östersund over the next few days
Until the middle of next week, the 2025 Biathlon Junior World Championships are in full swing in Östersund (Sweden). As well as the battle for world medals, the biathletes in the U22 category will be competing for the Junior Cup globes.
This is because the world competition organised in Sweden representsthe final stage of the U22 circuit. Before the start of the World Championships, the women’s overall ranking was tight, with Italy’s Fabiana Carpella leading the way with 366 points. But Sara Scattolo (351), Astrid Plosch (339), absent this week, Anaëlle Bondoux (334) and Lea Zimmermann (329) are just behind.

Suffice to say that the suspense will be there throughout the competitions for the winner of the big globe. It’s worth noting that Amandine Mengin (268) from the Vosges could still win it all if she puts in a very good performance in Östersund.
A globe for Greenland?
In terms of the small globes, the French are also in the mix. Anaëlle Bondoux (180) is 31 points off the lead in the sprint and 47 points off the lead in the mass start. The Grenoble native and Amandine Mengin, meanwhile, are 53 points behind the leader in the individual.
In the boys’ category, the presence of Polish rider Grzegorz Galica in the youth races in Scandinavia reshuffles the cards , as he had previously dominated the Junior Cup. As a result, Croatian Matija Legovic (442) virtually leads the standings ahead of Linus Kesper (414), Davide Compagnoni (358), Fabian Kaskel (343), Felix Ratschiller (338), who is absent, and Sondre Slettemark (337).

The latter, moreover, is well placed to offer Greenland its first small crystal globe.
