Biathlon: the Antholz stadium gets a makeover
For the past few months, the Südtirol Arena in Antholz-Anterselva (Italy), a major venue for the Biathlon World Cup, has been undergoing renovation work. In preparation for the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan/Cortina, it was decided to give the stadium in the province of Bolzano a facelift.
The finish has been completely redesigned. Whereas previously, the final straight was short and not conducive to great battles right to the end, it has been decided to move the track behind the shooting range to provide a long final straight in front of the grandstand. A configuration ‘à la Oslo-Holmenkollen’ which will be tested for the first time in competition this week.
