Biathlon: Jeanne Richard in the footsteps of her compatriots
In total, since the start of the 2024/2025 Biathlon World Cup season, the French women’s team has finished on ten individual podiums. As there has been no one-two finish yet, this means that only two races have finished without a Frenchwoman in the top 3.
Above all, these ten podium finishes were achieved by six different athletes, a record and a first in the history of French biathlon. First there was Lou Jeanmonnot (four wins in Kontiolahti, Hochfilzen, Oberhof and Ruhpolding), then Julia Simon (second in Kontiolahti and Grand-Bornand), Sophie Chauveau (second in Hochfilzen), Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (a win in Grand-Bornand), Paula Botet (a win in Oberhof) and, finally, Jeanne Richard (third in Ruhpolding).

In Les Bleues’ current squad, only Baujue’s Océane Michelon has yet to reach the podium. Twice fourth in January, she could sign up soon. So, seven Frenchwomen will have had the honour of the top 3 in a single season.
Further proof that the French biathlon is currently in fine fettle, the boys have so far placed five men on the podium: Emilien Jacquelin, Fabien Claude, Eric Perrot, Quentin Fillon-Maillet and Emilien Claude.
