16:43. On Sunday, the Südtirol Arena Alto Adige in Antholz (Italy), the venue for the biathlon events at the Milan/Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, hosted an open day. In all, around a thousand people came to visit the facilities and try their hand at 50-metre shooting.
The highlight of the programme, however, was the unveiling of a panel commemorating the Olympic achievements of the sportsmen and women from Antholz. These included Olympic biathletes Dorothea Wierer, Johann Passler, Andreas Zingerle, Dominik Windisch and Gottlieb Taschler.

“We are celebrating these great athletes of the past and present in the most beautiful biathlon stadium in the world. For us, this event also means looking to the future, remaining true to the concept of legacy: thanks to the Games, this facility will be accessible all year round, especially for the younger generations,” emphasised Arno Kompatscher, President of the Province of Bolzano, in a press release.
