Biathlon: Tarjei Boe raises his arms in Antholz
Early on Friday afternoon, Johannes Thingnes Boe competed in the last sprint of his career in Antholz (Italy). Retired at the end of the winter, as he announced last weekend, the Norwegian was one of the favourites for victory in the Südtirol Arena , where he has won a handful of times in the past.

However, the king of biathlon made one mistake on each of his shots and was not at his best in the final cross-country lap. So, in ninth place at the finish, he left his compatriots to fight it out for victory under the sun of Trentino-Alto Adige.

His older brother Tarjei Boe, who scored 10/10, drove a strong race and took victory… 4 tenths ahead of Sturla Holm Lægreid (9/10), the new overall leader, and 2 sec 6 ahead of Tommaso Giacomel (8/10).
He announced his retirement in the mixed zone
Speaking live to NRK, Tarjei Boe, in tears, took the opportunity to announce that he would be ending his career in a few months’ time, on the same day as his younger brother. “ Throughout the winter, I felt it was the right time to stop”, he explained. In March, a huge page in Norwegian and world biathlon will be turned.

The day’s flower ceremony was completed by Martin Uldal (9/10), Dmytro Pidruchnyi (9/10) and Jakov Fak (10/10), while Vitezslav Hornig (10/10), Eric Perrot (9/10), eighth and best Frenchman of the day, Johannes Thingnes Boe (8/10) and Jonas Marecek (10/10) made it into the top 10.

The results of the other French riders were not so good, with Emilien Claude (8/10) twenty-fourth, Emilien Jacquelin (7/10) twenty-fifth, Quentin Fillon-Maillet (6/10) twenty-eighth, Fabien Claude (7/10) thirty-seventh and Antonin Guigonnat (8/10) forty-third.
