Biathlon: Amandine Mengin’s first IBU Cup win, five Frenchwomen in the top 6
Late on Thursday morning, the 2024/2025 IBU Biathlon Cup resumed with the women’s sprint in Arber (Germany). In Bavaria, the French team put on a real show, placing five girls in the top 6.
Despite being without Chloé Chevalier, who has just retired, and Paula Botet, who came up through the World Cup in Oberhof (Germany), Les Bleues are still in first place. The big winner of the day was the surprising Amandine Mengin (10/10) from the Vosges.

Starting with bib 73, she came out of the last shooting zone 1 sec 1 ahead of Sophie Chauveau (9/10). Informed about the gaps, she then managed to increase her margin and finally won by 3 sec 1. A remarkable performance from the Bressaude… This was her first IBU Cup race.
Sophie Chauveau returns to the IBU Cup with a podium finish
On her return to the B circuit, Sophie Chauveau finished on the podium with a solid performance, marred only by a mistake in the prone shot. On the third step of the podium was Italy’s Rebecca Passler (10/10), at 22 sec 5.

The rest of the flower ceremony was totally French, with Voldiya Galmace-Paulin (9/10) fourth at 26 sec 5, Camille Bened (8/10) fifth at 51 sec and Gilonne Guigonnat (8/10) sixth at 55 sec 8. Louise Roguet (7/10), finally, finished forty-first.

The top 10 was completed by Germany’s Lisa Maria Spark (9/10), Norway’s Gunn Tvinnereim (9/10), Sweden’s Annie Lindh (9/10) and Finland’s Erika Jänkä (8/10). Gaia Brunello (8/10), making her second appearance for Brazil, was thirty-sixth.
