18:45. On Monday, Austrian biathlete Julia Leitinger (formerly Schwaiger) announced on her social networks that she had decided to retire from top-level biathlon at the age of 30.
With 119 World Cup starts to her name, she became world youth champion in the individual event in 2014, winning ahead of a certain Lisa Vittozzi , while Julia Simon was twenty-fifth.
“The last few years have been a huge drain on my energy, and now the battery is definitely dead,” she writes, even though she was not selected for the 2026 Olympics after competing in 2022.
