Biathlon: Dorothea Wierer back in the top 3 in Norway
Even though she only finished fifteenth in the sprint of the opening Norwegian biathlon races on Saturday in Sjusjøen (Norway), Dorothea Wierer still put in a good performance on skis , despite a 7/10 behind the rifle which prevented her from aiming higher in the rankings.

Once again on the pace in Sunday’s mass-start, the Italian was back on the podium this time. Third when she crossed the line, the Italian proved that she still had what it takes. Faulty on just two occasions against the targets, she finished the race just 30 seconds behindIngrid Landmark Tandrevold, the day’s winner.
A strong performer on the boards, the 34-year-old biathlete was once again reassured about her physical abilities despite starting her preparation later than usual. “I’m quite satisfied. I’m still lacking a bit of rhythm, but with the two races, I’m feeling pretty good and that’s a good sign, she confided in the mixed zone at Fondo Italia. I’m also happy with my shooting performance, because today it wasn’t at all easy with a few gusts of wind at times”.

And even though these competitions in Scandinavia have taken place without the vast majority of the world’s elite – notably theFrench team, who finished their preparations in Bessans (Savoie) – Dorothea Wierer is not neglecting in any way the reference points she picked up in the county of Innlandet.

“I’m well aware that there were only the Norwegians here. So it will be more difficult in a fortnight’ time on the World Cup, she admits. However, I hope to improve race after race. Before today, I hadn’t taken part in any competitive events since February. I remain optimistic for the future”.
