Biathlon: an emotional wedding for Linn Gestblom
Last July, Linn Persson became Linn Gestblom after saying yes to her new husband Christian Gestblom. The reigning Olympic champion in the women’s relay, who is still unsure whether she will be able to take part in the Biathlon World Cup between now and the end of 2024, spoke toExpressen about her recent union.
However, the party was not without its hazards, as the Swede explained: “We had set up a small tent where we had a popcorn machine. We wanted to make things easier for them and leave them there all night. However, the tent wasn’t locked so some people made popcorn the night before. On the day of the wedding, there was popcorn all over the floor,” she says.
So it was with added stress that the 30-year-old biathlete approached the big day. However, the Scandinavian was not at the end of her surprises. Because of all the stress, Christian even forgot my bouquet of flowers,” she says. In the end, an uncle stepped in and collected the flowers, while the groom also arrived on time for the ceremony.
And despite these mishaps, Linn Gestblom still has indelible memories of the day: “I had butterflies in my stomach. It was different from a biathlon competition because I’d never done anything like it before,” she says with emotion.
