Biathlon: Les Bleues off the podium in Brezno-Osrblie
Early on Friday afternoon, theIBU Biathlon Cup in Brezno-Osrblie (Slovakia) included a men’s sprint on its programme. A few hours after Paula Botet ‘s success on the women’s side, Italy’s Christoph Pircher was delighted to claim his first victory on the B circuit.

With 10/10, he won by a margin of 8.5 seconds over Austrian Magnus Oberhauser (10/10) and 17.3 seconds over Czech Petr Hak (10/10). Overall leader, Norway’s Vetle Paulsen (9/10) had to settle for fourth place ahead of Jakub Stvrtecky (8/10) and Oscar Andersson (10/10).

Gaëtan Paturel (9/10) took seventh place, some twenty seconds off the podium, while Léo Carlier (9/10), in ninth place, scored his first top ten finish in the IBU Cup. Damien Levet (7/10) was nineteenth, Antonin Guigonnat (7/10) twenty-first and Valentin Lejeune (7/10) twenty-second. Further back, Corentin Jacob (6/10) is sixty-seventh.
