Biathlon: after the night in Östersund, it’s time for sun and light in Hochfilzen
The first fortnight of the 2025/2026 World Cup season took place in Östersund (Sweden). As usual at this time of year, the various competitions took place in darkness.
From now on, the circuit will move to the Alps with a stage starting on Friday in Hochfilzen (Austria).” We’re going to take a bit of vitamin D,” said a smiling Océane Michelon in the mixed zone after the last Swedish race.
It has to be said that a lot of sun – and therefore a lot of light – is forecast for the Tyrolean stadium for this second round of the Olympic season. Temperatures, meanwhile, will be close to 0°C , while there is no shortage of snow on the competition site.
“We want to provide perfect conditions for athletes and spectators alike. The demands, both on and off the track, increase every year. Fortunately, we can count on a highly experienced team and the support of the Austrian armed forces,” explains Franz Berger, head of the organising committee.
