For the past three seasons, British men’s biathlon has been represented on the international stage by Sean Benson. A keen mountain biker, he trained in Whistler (Canada) in a group that last summer welcomed Lisa Cart-Lamy from the Jura.
Taking part in Junior Cups, Junior World Championships and IBU Cups, the Briton was lucky enough to start the mixed relay and sprint at the World Championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland) in February. This spring, however, he decided to stop, as he revealed on Friday evening in a post published on Instagram.
“Thirteen years after I started this sport at the age of 9, it’s time to say goodbye, he writes. Biathlon has taken me where I never thought I’d get to in life and given me the best experiences, friendships and emotions of my life. After training full time for the last four years and competing internationally for the last three seasons, I have been able to push myself further than I could have ever imagined.”
