11:21. On Friday evening, as part of the American trials in Soldier Hollow (USA), US Biathlon organised its traditional awards ceremony to honour the biathletes of the year 2025.
Unsurprisingly, it was Campbell Wright, twice runner-up in the junior world championships last February in Lenzerheide (Switzerland), and Deedra Irwin, notably fifteenth in the individual short race at the World Cup in Kontiolahti (Finland), who received the Athlete of the Year trophy.
In the junior category, Alexandra Rud, US junior champion in the Mass Start 60, and Wes Campbell, who finished in the top 10 of a Junior Cup during the winter, were crowned winners, as were Seven Bowen and John Lohuis in the youth category. Susan Dunklee and Rick Costanza, from the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, received the Coach of the Year award.
Last but not least, Lucinda Anderson and Wes Campbell won the Charlie Kellogg prize for best progress, each receiving a $1,000 bursary.
