On Wednesday, the first day of the Canadian biathlon selections for the first quarter of the World Cup and IBU Cup took place at Canmore (Canada). In a sprint, Nadia Moser (9/10) first struck a blow in the women’s race, winning 22 sec 3 ahead of Shilo Rousseau (9/10) and 27 sec 7 ahead of Pascale Paradis (9/10).
Emma Lunder (8/10), pre-qualified for the World Cup, Mia Rodger (10/10), Benita Peiffer (7/10), Moira Green (9/10), Emily Dickson (7/10) and Janice Grundahl (9/10) follow in the rankings.
Finally, the top 10 is completed by France’s Lisa Cart-Lamy (8/10), who has been training in Whistler (Canada) since the start of the summer, more than 2 minutes behind the winner.
Despite two fouls, Adam Runnalls wins
The men’s competition that followed was dominated by Adam Runnalls, who already has his ticket in his pocket for the start of the World Cup. Despite an 8/10, with two standing errors, he won by a margin of 22.5 seconds over Logan Pletz (9/10).
Initially in third place, the young Cole Germain (8/10), only 19 years old and the surprise of the race, was disqualified for taking the wrong course.
