Biathlon: Logan Pletz doubles up in Canmore
The third and final day of the Canadian biathlon trials in Canmore (Canada) took place on Saturday at . In Alberta, as on Wednesday, a sprint was on the programme.
First of all, in the men’s race, Logan Pletz secured a second successive victory after his pursuit win on Friday. With a time of 7/10 – and in the absence of the pre-qualified Adam Runnalls, who was rested – he won 17.7 seconds ahead of Jean-Nicolas De Broeck (8/10), one of the week’s surprises who could well discover the IBU Cup and/or the World Cup at the start of this winter.
Zachary Connelly (5/10) rounded off the podium at 40 sec 2 despite missing four targets on standing. Jasper Fleming (8/10), Matthew Strum (9/10), Gavin Johnston (10/10), Haldan Borglum (9/10), Tom Stephen (6/10), Daniel Gilfillan (9/10) and Lucas Smith (8/10) rounded off the top 10.
Benita Peiffer makes an appearance, Lisa Cart-Lamy outside the top 10
Then, in the women’s race, contested without Emma Lunder, who was also rested thanks to her pre-qualified status, it was Benita Peiffer (8/10) who came out on top, winning by 7 sec 0 ahead of Nadia Moser (6/10), winner of the first two races of the week.
At 21 sec 6, Pascale Paradis (7/10) took third place, ahead of Mia Rodger (9/10), Emily Dickson (8/10) and Shilo Rousseau (8/10).
The top 10 was completed by Cheyenne Tirschmann (8/10), Moira Green (7/10), Janice Grundahl (9/10) and Vilde Boerseth (8/10). Jurassienne Lisa Cart-Lamy (7/10) was twelfth this time.
