Biathlon: the Commonwealth Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk is launched
After a first stage organised in September in Sochi (Russia) on ski-wheels, the 2025/2026 Commonwealth Cup in biathlon continues this week on the snow of Khanty-Mansiysk (Russia).
This Thursday, it was the sprints that opened the hostilities on this circuit bringing together Russian and Belarusian biathletes who have been deprived of international action since the end of the 2021/2022 season.

In the women’s race, Belarus’s Dzinara Smolskaya won at 10/10, just 0.5 seconds ahead of Russia’s Irina Kazakevich (9/10). Hanna Sola (9/10) is third at 8 sec 2, while Tamara Derbusheva (10/10), Elizaveta Burundukova (9/10) and Viktoriia Metelia (9/10) complete the top 6.
The men’s sprint was dominated by Eduard Latypov. With the perfect shot, he beat his compatriot Kirill Bazhin (9/10) by 44 sec 2 and Belarusian Anton Smolski (9/10) by 46 sec 1. Alexandr Loginov (9/10), Aleksei Vagin (9/10) and Ivan Kolotov (10/10) followed.
