Biathlon: Coralie Perrin bronze medallist at the age of 18
When 18-year-old Féclaz native Coralie Perrin spoke to us before setting off for the European Junior Biathlon Championships in Altenberg (Germany), she said she was “very motivated” and wanted to give it her all . For the Savoyard, who was about to embark on her first international experience, it was impossible to set precise objectives.
On Wednesday, she finished fiftieth in the individual event. It was brand new for me and I was a bit fooled by the shooting,” she told Nordic Magazine. We had some training sessions after the race and that gave me confidence. I rallied thanks to my mental strength and physical qualities, as well as the support of my coach [Antoine Echavidre, who was there to support Rachel Demangeat and Claire Breton, editor’s note].

In the sprint on Saturday afternoon, Coralie Perrin, wearing the number 83 bib, created a sensation by winning the silver medal. “It’s just incredible, I can’t get over it. As I crossed the finish line, I saw: second, Coralie Perrin! I was so happy I was crying with joy, it was amazing,” says the biathlete from La Féclaz (Savoie).
A performance praised by Coralie Perrin
I set off knowing that the shot was vital if I was to put in a good performance,” she remembers. I got to the prone position by putting a lot of energy into each ball and I’m full up now. The same goes for standing. I put in the first four and realised I was at 9/9! I had a moment of fear, but I kept going and came out with a 10/10. On the track afterwards, the coaches were all over me, it was great! It gave me enormous strength.

It was a performance praised by her elder sister Anaëlle Bondoux, who won the title just ahead of her. “I’m extremely impressed by Coralie [Perrin], who won a super 10/10 and a very fine medal for her first international selection. That’s something to be proud of and I was delighted to share it with her,” said the Grenoble native.
