Biathlon | Nordic skiing: the French selection for the fifth Military World Games in history
From 25 to 28 March, the fifth edition of the World Military Winter Games will take place in Lucerne (Switzerland). A total of 1,400 participants from 43 countries are expected in Switzerland for this competition, which is reserved for sportsmen and women who have a contract with their country’s armed forces. Among the disciplines on the programme are cross-country skiing and biathlon, contested in Goms (Switzerland).
The participants include Austrian Lisa Theresa Hauser, Swiss Lena Haecki-Gross, James Pacal, Janik Riebli, Valerio Grond, Cyril Faehndrich, Lea Meier, Niklas Hartweg, Amy Baserga, Nadja Kaelin, Beda Klee and Anja Weber, Bulgarian Milena Todorova and Vladimir Iliev, Germans Justus Strelow, Katharina Hennig, Victoria Carl and Philipp Horn, the Italians Samuela Comola, Iris De Martin Pinter, Davide Graz and Lukas Hofer, the Lithuanian Vytautas Strolia, the Slovenians Polona Klemencic, Vili Crv and Lovro Planko, the Poles Izabela Marcisz and Natalia Sidorowicz, the Americans Deedra Irwin, Tara Geraghty-Moats and Maxime Germain, the Ukrainian Yuliia Dzhima and the Finns Remi Lindholm and Erika Jänkä.

As far as France is concerned, as Nordic Magazine has learned, a delegation of eighteen Nordic athletes will be taking part in these World Military Games. In biathlon, under the direction ofAnaïs Bescond, Fabien Claude, Emilien Claude, Eric Perrot, Antonin Guigonnat, Lou Jeanmonnot, Paula Botet, Sophie Chauveau and Chloé Chevalier, who will be taking part in her last competitions. Sprints, a relay and a patrol will be on the week’s programme.
In cross-country skiing, with Arnaud Chautemps as coach, Hugo Lapalus, Jules Lapierre, Jules Chappaz, Richard Jouve, Léna Quintin and Flora Dolci will be competing in an individual skate and a team sprint.Delphine Claudel will be making the trip through injury. Finally, in para cross-country skiing, Bornandin Benjamin Daviet has been selected, as have David Barnabé, Thibault Vanicatte and Gilles Brahim, three soldiers injured on mission.
