Biathlon | Nordic skiing: seven Finns already guaranteed a place in Italy next February
This Monday afternoon, the Board of Directors of the Finnish Olympic Committee approved an initial list of nine athletes selected for the Milan/Cortina 2026 Olympic Games.
Among them are seven Nordics: biathlete Suvi Minkkinen, Nordic combined Ilkka Herola and cross-country runners Jasmi Joensuu, Iivo Niskanen, Krista Pärmäkoski, Lauri Vuorinen and Kerttu Niskanen.
The criterion for selecting these athletes was their demonstrated potential to compete for medals among the world’s best athletes last season,” says Janne Häninen, head of sport at Suomen Olympiakomitean, in a press release. At this stage, the situation of the selected athletes is already clear enough for us to include them in the team.
