Biathlon | Cross-country skiing: the fifth Military World Games are coming to Lucerne
This week, the fifth edition of the Military World Winter Games is being held in Lucerne, Switzerland. Bringing together eight sporting disciplines and over 1,000 athletes, the event includes cross-country skiing, para-cross-country skiing and biathlon.
The Goms valley stadium in Switzerland will be the venue for the competitions, with eighteen French athletes lining up at the start. In the biathlon, under the direction ofAnaïs Bescond, there will be Fabien Claude, Emilien Claude, Eric Perrot, Antonin Guigonnat, Lou Jeanmonnot, Paula Botet, Sophie Chauveau and Chloé Chevalier, who will be competing for the last time.
In cross-country skiing, with Arnaud Chautemps as coach, Hugo Lapalus, Jules Lapierre, Jules Chappaz, Richard Jouve, Léna Quintin and Flora Dolci will be competing in an individual skate and a team sprint. Delphine Claudel will be making the trip through injury. Finally, in para cross-country skiing, Bornandin Benjamin Daviet has been selected, as have David Barnabé, Thibault Vanicatte and Gilles Brahim, three soldiers injured on mission.
In terms of the programme of events, individual cross-country ski skates (9:30 for the women, 11:00 for the men) and biathlon sprints (14:30 for the women, 16:00 for the men) are scheduled for Tuesday. On Wednesday, the cross-country skiing team sprints will take place (9.30am), while the mixed biathlon relay will take place on Thursday (9.30am). Finally, the patrol race closes the programme on Friday (9.30am).
