Biathlon : Dorothea Wierer on the podium, Lisa Vittozzi fourth
The weekend’s competition in Scandinavia provided some important first indicators for the Italian women’s biathlon team. Between Dorothea Wierer ‘s third place in the mass start in Geilo (Norway) and Lisa Vittozzi ‘s double fourth place in Idre Fjäll (Sweden), the Italians showed encouraging form two weeks before the start of the World Cup.

In Norway, Dorothea Wierer ended her weekend on a convincing podium – third in the mass start – despite three shooting errors. “ I think it went pretty well. We had a training camp here, so we weren’t able to prepare as well as we could for these competitions, but I’m quite satisfied with my performance”, she explained to NRK and quoted in the columns of Fondo Italia.
She also revealed that she had been feeling some pain over the last few days: “The shot wasn’t perfect; I had some back pain… I hope to get it sorted in time for the World Cup.

In Sweden, Lisa Vittozzi also performed well with two fourth places, including a sprint in which she finished just one second off the podium. It was a positive weekend,” she told Fondo Italia. I need a few races to find my way. You need patience, but I’m sure that with the work I’ve put in, I’ll find it.
The Italian, who trained with a small team, was also keen to emphasise the support of those around her: ” I’m grateful to my coaches and everyone who helped me […] The best is yet to come.
