Biathlon: the Italians in the federal group for the summer
Late this morning, the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) unveiled the composition of its national biathlon squads for the 2025/2026 training season.
First of all, there is only Lisa Vittozzi, despite her general withdrawal last winter, Dorothea Wierer and Tommaso Giacomel with national team rank. All are training with members of the Milan/Cortina 2026 team.
On the women’s side, there are twelve players coached by Mirco Romanin and Jonne Kähkönen: Hannah Auchentaller, Michela Carrara, Samuela Comola, Martina Trabucchi, Rebecca Passler, Sara Scattolo, Beatrice Trabucchi, Linda Zingerle, Fabiana Carpella, Ilaria Scattolo, Birgit Schoelzhorn and Francesca Brocchiero.
Patrick Braunhofer, Elia Zeni, Lukas Hofer, Didier Bionaz, Nicolo Betemps, Marco Barale, Christoph Pircher, Felix Ratschiller, Daniele Cappellari and Davide Compagnoni have been retained on the men’s side with Fabio Cianciana and Andrea Zattoni as coaches. As has been the case for many years, Dorothea Wierer will be spending the summer with the men’s squad as she prepares for the final match of her career.
