Biathlon: the U19s and U22s in selection over the next two weekends
For the next generation of French biathlon, the French Cups at Col de Porte (Isère) and La Féclaz (Savoie) over the next two weekends are of the utmost importance.
After the Contamines-Montjoie (Haute-Savoie) round at the start of January, these races complete the selection process for the World Youth (U19) and Junior (U22) Championships in Östersund (Sweden). “Four of the six best races to establish the selection rankings”, explains Stéphane Bouthiaux, director of the French biathlon teams, to Nordic Magazine.

In both the U19 and U22 categories, eight tickets are up for grabs (four for the men, four for the women) in these rounds of the national circuit.
“We have to add that we will take into account what happens at the European Championships and the IBU Cup for juniors who are there and who could then go on to the Worlds,” explains Stéphane Bouthiaux. This could be the case forAmandine Mengin,Edgar Geny, Gaëtan Paturel and Voldiya Galmace-Paulin.
