Biathlon: Sweden without Elvira Oeberg, but with Sara Andersson in Nove Mesto
Late on Tuesday morning, the Swedish Biathlon Association announced the withdrawal of its star Elvira Oeberg from the World Cup in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic). Having fallen ill on her return from the World Championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland), she is effectively staying at home this week, a situation that will continue “until she recovers”, it added.
The new Junior World Champion in the Mass-Start 60, Sara Andersson, joins the group alongside Johanna Skottheim, Hanna Oeberg, Ella Halvarsson, Anna-Karin Heijdenberg and Anna Magnusson.
There are no surprises in the men’s section, however, with Martin Ponsiluoma, Sebastian Samuelsson, Viktor Brandt, Jesper Nelin, Emil Nykvist and Malte Stefansson all called up.
