Biathlon: Emilien Claude, the surprise chef
Late on Friday afternoon, the French Ski Federation (FFS ) unveiled the composition of the relays lining up this Saturday for the World Biathlon Championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland). On the men’s side, the staff led by Simon Fourcade and Jean-Pierre Amat are taking a gamble by withdrawing Emilien Jacquelin from the Isère region, one of the four winners at the start of the season, to bring Emilien Claude into the group.
A substitute in this event, the Bassurois told Nordic Magazine before his departure for Switzerland that he expected not to race, but to prepare as if he were going to put on his race number. Emilien Claude is taking advantage of the poor results achieved by his Dauphiné team-mate in Lenzerheide (19th in the sprint, 15th in the pursuit, 67th in the individual) to enter the relay quartet.

Unsurprisingly, the Vosges native was placed in the opening position. He will then hand over to his older brother Fabien Claude before Peiserot Eric Perrot and Jurassien Quentin Fillon-Maillet conclude the race.
