Biathlon: no podium for Les Bleus in the EYOF 2025 mixed relay
On Sunday, the biathlon competitions at the 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival in Bakuriani (Georgia) came to an end with the mixed relay. Competing for France in this final event of the week, Esteban Moreira, Nans Madelenat, Romane Ouvrier-Buffet and Maëlle Achoui did not finish on the podium in their first international competition.
It has to be said that the boys’ first two relays were difficult, with penalty laps and many picks used. As a result, the French were soon no longer in the medal hunt. Although each of the girls had a fine race, France finished fourth, more than a minute and a half short of the medal they were aiming for.
At the front, Italy (Rafael Santer, Julian Huber, Gaia Gondolo, Thea Wanker) made a clean sweep to take the title on their own and without any competition. Silver went to the Czech Republic (Daniel Ryska, Michael Malek, Tereza Petrosova, Lucie Jandurova) , whileAustria (Simon Hechenberger, Simon Grasberger, Katharina Puergy, Selina Ganner) came out on top.
