Biathlon: Esteban Moreira goes for his medal
After a sunny start to the week, the Bakuriani BTH-CCS Stadium woke up to snow on Friday. In Georgia, in the Samtskhe-Djavakhétie region, the conditions were therefore not ideal for the biathlon sprint , unlike the individual and mixed singles relays.
But that didn’t stop France from shining once again at the 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival. This time, it was Montblanc’s Esteban Moreira who stood out. Scoring 10 out of 10, his first ever, the Chamonix native put in a fine performance that placed him on the second step of the podium, winning a silver medal in the process.
Emile Weiss sixth
At the front, he was no match for the impressive Grzegorz Galica for the title. Above the rest, the three-time European junior champion won the gold medal , as he had done in the opening individual event. He still managed to score 8/10 against the targets, 39 sec 3 ahead of Esteban Moreira. Bronze went to Italy’s Julian Huber (8/10) at 1 min 4 sec 4… or 8 tenths better than Switzerland’s Levin Kunz (8/10).
Bulgarian Georgi Dzhorgov (8/10) was fifth, while Savoyard Emile Weiss (8/10) rounded off the day’s top six. Nans Madelenat (7/10) is tenth and Emile Perrillat-Bottonet (8/10) eighteenth.
