Biathlon: the lucky French team selected for the IBU Cup are…
Two days after the end of the FFS biathlon selections in Bessans (Savoie), Stéphane Bouthiaux, director of the French teams, reveals to Nordic Magazine the names of the athletes selected for the IBU Cups in Idre Fjäll (Sweden) and Gailo (Norway) scheduled from 28 November to 7 December.
On the women’s side, Camille Bened, Chloé Chevalier and Anaëlle Bondoux, pre-qualified thanks to their results last winter, will be joined in Scandinavia by Fany Bertrand, Paula Botet, who scored a hat-trick in Bessans, and Voldiya Galmace-Paulin. The 19-year-old from Montblanc will be discovering this circuit in the coming weeks.

In the men’s group, pre-qualifiers Antonin Guigonnat, Emilien Claude and Oscar Lombardot are joined by Gaëtan Paturel, Théo Guiraud-Poillet and Axel Garnier. The latter will also be making his first starts in the IBU Cup. They will all be fighting for the two World Cup tickets in the sprints of the Idre Fjäll stage on 28 and 30 November.
Premieres for Martin Botet, Axel Garnier and Voldiya Galmace-Paulin
“The top two should be selected for the Kontiolahti World Cup, confirms Stéphane Bouthiaux. I’m using the conditional tense because we always have the possibility of making a different decision as there could be difficult conditions, such as a lot of wind, which could call the ranking into question.”
The Franche-Comté technician will be on hand to judge the play and will take the qualified boys to Finland.

So, for the Geilo stage (Norway) the following week, Damien Levet and Martin Botet, who will be making his debut on the B circuit, will be reinforcing the French team. Both will be in the squad from Idre Fjäll, but will not be taking part in the races.
