Biathlon: 12 biathletes in the World Cup squad for the coming preparation season
On Tuesday afternoon, the French Ski Federation (FFS ) unveiled the long-awaited composition of the federal squads for the 2025/2026 season. In biathlon, 39 athletes make up the new French team squads.
The surprise of this announcement, on the women’s side, is that the A training group has been reduced to five members, compared to seven a year ago. Under the guidance of Cyril Burdet, Jean-Paul Giachino and Patrick Favre, Julia Simon, Lou Jeanmonnot, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, Océane Michelon and Jeanne Richard will be in the squad throughout the summer.
Sophie Chauveau and Gilonne Guigonnat are relegated to Group B, along with Paula Botet, Camille Bened, Anaëlle Bondoux, Célia Henaff, Voldiya Galmace-Paulin and Amandine Mengin.
The latter, after her incredible 2024/2025 season, is joining the federal teams for the first time. All will be training under the guidance of Baptiste Desthieux and Julien Robert.
Antonin Guigonnat and Emilien Claude return to the French senior team
On the men’s side, the A group coached by Simon Fourcade and Jean-Pierre Amat returns to seven members. Emilien Claude and Antonin Guigonnat return to the team alongside Fabien Claude, Emilien Jacquelin, Eric Perrot, Oscar Lombardot and Quentin Fillon-Maillet.
In the B team, coached by Louis Deschamps and Bastien Moretti, Axel Garnier, Edgar Geny, Théo Guiraud-Poillot, Valentin Lejeune, Damien Levet, Gaëtan Paturel, Corentin Jacob and Martin Botet were selected. The latter two have signed up for the federal groups.
Solid Excellence 2030 Groups
Finally, the Excellence 2030 groups, the names given to the junior teams, were also unveiled. Once again coached by Rachel Demangeat and Claire Breton, there will be eleven of them.
Lola Bugeaud, Namou Candau-Armand, Lou-Anne Dupont Ballet-Baz, Coralie Perrin and Louise Roguet are on the women’s side, as are Léo Carlier, Antonin Delsol, Camille Grataloup-Manissolle, Antonin Guy, Guillaume Poirot and Flavio Guy for the men.
