Biathlon : “It was really great to fight with them [the leaders]”, says Philipp Horn
After his first World Cup podium in the sprint at Hochflizen (Austria) on Friday, Germany’s Philipp Horn had a great race in the pursuit, finishing fourth with a 19/20 behind the rifle and the 21st fastest ski time.

“I felt good, although I have to say that I wasn’t as fit as yesterday on the track. But my main aim today was to stay calm on the range and do my job. And above all, not to get distracted by what was happening left and right, and I managed that very well today […] Fourth place is still an excellent result against the favourites. It was really great to fight with them,” he said with satisfaction to the German Biathlon Federation.

The German biathlete was able to count on some very good equipment during the race: “Up until now, at every race, I’ve had the impression of having ultra-high-performance skis. Today was no exception; as soon as I left the stadium, I knew that on this slight descent, I was sliding a little better than the others and that I was gaining a few seconds each time. It’s just great”, he confides.

He achieved this result despite a fall: “My inner ski slipped on the ice as I was turning. It all happened so quickly, I couldn’t do anything. It happens in the middle of a race. I lost a bit of time, but I think I stayed calm.
