Biathlon: home triumph for Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold
After sprints in which the athletes had to concentrate on their individual performance for around twenty minutes, the Norwegian biathlon opening races in Geilo (Norway) on Sunday included mass start races.
In this head-to-head format, it’s no longer just a question of skiing fast and shooting well. You have to be able to deal with external hazards such as opponents, simultaneous shooting with the competition or race strategies.

Against this backdrop,Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold showed herself to be at ease. Although the Norwegian missed a target on her first shot, she never gave up and gradually came back into the match.

In the end, although she has regularly broken down in similar situations in recent months, she managed to score a life-saving 5/5 on the last stand to emerge alone at the top of the shooting range.
A podium finish for Dorothea Wierer, another top 6 for Anastasiya Kuzmina
With an 18/20, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold took off on a magnificent victory obtained thirteen days before the start of the 2025/2026 World Cup. Ragnhild Femsteinevik (20/20) was second at 15 sec 3 while Italy’s Dorothea Wierer (17/20) was third at 22 sec 9.

In fourth place was the Norwegian-Danish Anne Bunemann de Besche (20/20), who continues to show great promise following her summer national title in September.

The flower ceremony was then completed by Belgium’s Lotte Lie (19/20) and Slovakia’s Anastasiya Kuzmina (18/20), who is clearly in fine form at the start of this winter.

Marit Oeygard (18/20), Aasne Skrede (16/20), Karoline Erdal (14/20) and Marthe Kraakstad Johansen (16/20), in tears in the changing area, then entered the day’s top 10 ahead of Emilie Kalkenberg (15/20), Maya Cloetens (17/20) and Juni Arnekleiv (16/20). Maren Kirkeeide (13/20), meanwhile, missed out with a twentieth-place finish.
