Biathlon: the end of the road for Marion Wiesensarter
The dance of retirement announcements continues in the world of biathlon. Late on Sunday, 30-year-old German Marion Wiesensarter announced her decision to retire from the sport. Although she made eight World Cup starts, mainly between 2019 and 2021, she never managed to establish herself in the German first team.
“It’s time for me to say goodbye to competitive sport, as I’m bringing my biathlon career to an end, she wrote on Instagram. It’s been a great time, but also a challenging one. I’m incredibly grateful for everything I’ve been able to experience.”

Last season, Marion Wiesensarter took part in several stages of the IBU Cup, finishing second in the mixed relay inObertilliach (Germany) and winning several individual flower ceremonies. Not enough, therefore, to make her want to set off again for a summer of preparation.
