Biathlon: Hanna Oeberg very emotional after Sweden’s bronze medal in Lenzerheide
The Swedes are no longer off the podium in the women’s relay at the biathlon world championships. Sun-kissed this Saturday afternoon in Lenzerheide (Switzerland), the Scandinavians have been in the top three in this race for three years running.

Still in the hunt after solid performances from Anna Magnusson and Ella Halvarsson, the Swedish team could count on the duo of Hanna and Elvira Oeberg to try and finish the event with a silver medal behind an untouchable French team.
Hanna Oeberg, who has been the leader of this group for a number of seasons, was playing for big stakes when she came here. Far from winning medals in the individual events, the 29-year-old biathlete wanted to put on a much better show in this team event, which is often a success for her country.

And the native of Kiruna (Sweden) didn’t waver. Perfect behind the rifle with a perfect 10/10, she put her team more than ever in the running for the medals. And despite the major scare caused by her sister, Elvira, who visited the penalty ring after her prone shot, the Swedes held on to retain third place.

A bronze medal that visibly moved the third relay runner of the day. In the finish area, Hanna Oeberg couldn’t hold back a few tears: “For me, it’s a very emotional moment. I’m very happy and of course also relieved,” she told SVT Sport in the mixed zone.

Consultant for the national channel, former biathlete Bjoern Ferry underlined the high-flying performance put in by the woman who won the individual and mass start at the 2023 World Championships in Oberhof (Germany): “The champion Hanna is a tower of strength. When it’s time to perform, she manages to give the best version of herself,” he said with a smile.
