Biathlon: “death threats” against Justine Braisaz-Bouchet’s daughter
After winning the sprint leg of the biathlon World Cup in Hochfilzen (Austria), Lou Jeanmonnot from the Franc-Comtois region was keen to respond to the attacks made on Justine Braisaz-Bouchet in recent days. The Savoie native, Olympic mass-start champion, has received a number of malicious messages, including some threatening her daughter.

“I’m deeply disappointed for Justine, because I think she’s paying far too dearly for something she was a victim of at one point. At the end of last week, she received death threats against her daughter. And honestly, that disgusts me. I don’t think it’s right that it should have taken on such proportions,” Lou Jeanmonnot lamented to the cameras of La Chaîne L’Équipe.

These attacks illustrate a worrying trend on social networks, where some Internet users no longer hesitate to cross boundaries that athletes should never have to deal with.
As well as showing her support for her team-mate, the Pontissalite also spoke of her own feelings within the France squad: “Honestly, I’m disappointed. This is not the way I would have liked to spend my career as an athlete in the French senior team. I’d have liked it to be like it was when I was a cadet, going to training with my friends and being happy to go. Unfortunately, that’s not the case, but we’ve learned to live with it.
I’m doing my best to support Justine [Braisaz-Bouchet], who is a wonderful person, who deserves all the love in the world and who has been, well, a little bit shattered by all this.
