Biathlon: Lou Jeanmonnot’s Austrian triumph
Like Eric Perrot earlier in the day, Doubiste’s Lou Jeanmonnot got her revenge on Friday in the biathlon world cup sprint in Hochfilzen (Austria). Far from the best last weekend in Östersund (Sweden) in the sprint/pursuit combination, the Franc-Comtoise native performed well in the first race of the week.

With a 10/10 on the mats and a very solid performance on the cross-country skis, the reigning world champion in the relay and mixed relay has now claimed her thirteenth victory on the world circuit.

“I’m very happy. It wasn’t easy with the standing shot, where I was a bit stressed and scared. I picked myself up again in the second and I’m even prouder of that. I fought hard not to let my emotions get the better of me,” she told La Chaîne L’Equipe afterwards.
Third place went to Anna Magnusson in the yellow bib, with more flowers for Camille Bened
The best biathlete of the day, the Olympic Mont d’Or member was 15 seconds ahead of blue bib Maren Kirkeeide (9/10) and 16 seconds ahead of Sweden’s Anna Magnusson (10/10), the new overall leader.

Next up were Italy’s Dorothea Wierer (10/10), Switzerland’s Amy Baserga (10/10) and Chablais’ Camille Bened (10/10), who was once again solid in the flower ceremony, while Vanessa Voigt (10/10), Anna Weidel (10/10), Karoline Knotten (9/10) and Polona Klemencic (9/10) made up the day’s top 10.
Julia Simon returns in nineteenth place
As for the other Frenchwomen, Julia Simon’s return to competition (9/10) was eagerly awaited and it was with a nineteenth place that the Beaufort native returned to the World Cup.

Elsewhere, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (7/10) was fifteenth, Jeanne Richard (9/10) sixteenth, Gilonne Guigonnat (9/10) thirtieth and Océane Michelon (7/10) thirty-fourth.
